Everyone tastes things just a little differently than the next person, and coffee is certainly no exception. This coffee is a classic Dutch blend with a rich flavor and aroma that takes me back to my first experiences with great steaming cups of coffee that accompanied luscious not-too-sweet German pastries in the elegant coffee shops of Wiesbaden, Germany, in the late 1950s. That was long ago! But I time travel back there through the flavor of this coffee regularly now. But be warned! The brewing method can be as critical to a coffee nut like me as the coffee blend. These days I brew my Douwe Egbert 10% Kona Blend Whole Bean, Decaf Coffee using the true espresso method that produces a rich crema "froth" on top, and serve it in 10 ounce coffee mugs! ("Espresso," as in brewing method, and not the level of roast of a coffee bean.) When I lived in El Paso, TX, a decade ago, where Fort Bliss is still home to a permanant wing of the Luftwaffe (German Air Force), this coffee in its original blend was available in a local market that catered to European tastes, but my coffee source left town when that market closed, and I moved away soon after. Now, through amazon.com, once again my favorite-favorite blend of coffee lures friends into my kitchen for a leisurely "kaffeeklatsch" on demand. I find this to be an excellent "Euro-blend" of coffee enriched and updated with a touch of Kona coffee beans from Hawaii. Deeeeeeelicious! My favorite "go to" everyday coffee!

If you have ever had Douwe Egberts Kona Blend coffee at a restaurant you know how smooth and delicious it is. I did and have hunted for that taste ever since. For anyone, like me, thinking you had found it, continue to seek. This is not bad coffee, (that is why I gave it 2 stars) it just does not have the flavor of the restaurant variety DE Kona blend. If that is what you desire, do not spend your money here. This has no more flavor than a pot of Folgers.
